London Drum Studio is the place for drum tuition in East London and surrounding areas! The resident drum teacher, Nick Roberts, offers one-to-one drum lessons to all ages and skill levels. Students can also benefit from access to the three additional practice rooms. Nick has played the drum kit for over 15 years and studied drums at The Academy of Contemporary Music graduating with a Ba Hons Degree in music performance. Since ACM, Nick has worked extensively in London with both major label artists and unsigned bands alongside a teaching and recording schedule. Performance highlights include playing at the Royal Albert Hall, the Jazz Cafe and on a national O2 Academy tour. As a teacher Nick is dynamic and enthusiastic and adaptable to the different needs of each student and likes to use a whole range of media.

Whether you plan on regular weekly lessons, or are just after a few taster lessons, I promise to make the lessons fun and packed full of goods and will tailor them to whichever direction you wish to take your drumming. The lessons will provide a great insight to drumming from all angles; technique, reading, rudiments, improvisation, groove styles and musicality. I use a selection of various drum books, including the grades, my own notation, play-along charts and a range of digital media. If you wish, I can arrange for you to take graded exams. To make lessons engaging I am always happy to prepare lessons on your favourite songs if suitable!

“I’d never played the drums before and by the end of the first couple of sessions I was hooked. Now I go to each lesson raving about a new song or groove I want to learn, and am planning on getting my own kit. Nick is a great teacher – friendly, laid back, patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic. The lessons are great fun and Nick puts a lot of effort into tailoring them to what you want to learn, preparing notation, and transcribing favourite songs to play along to. He even has recording software so you can check your progress and take home a souvenir mp3 – should you wish to subject friends and family to your efforts before getting that kit…”

“My daughter has been a student of Nick for a year, she began with little understanding of drumming and his teaching has seen her achieve a Grade two in a little less than six months. She is currently studying for her grade four exam. She has described his sessions as fun, fluid and informative and very much missed after the lesson is over. From observing his sessions I can say his teaching style is unique, as he’s able to quickly assess his student’s strengths and adapt to assist in their development. I can say he is naturally good at what he does and even better with kids.”

“I can tell you that he is an excellent teacher who is enthusiastic, supportive and open to going through any type of technique or style you may wish to explore.”

“I’m a total beginner and I’m loving my drum lessons…Nick is a fantastic teacher, I think he’s got a great teaching method and he makes it really fun!”
